On the 16th of June 1973 The Rocky Horror Show began previews in the Royal Court Theatre Upstairs, London. They held their official, thunder ridden, opening night on the 19th of June 1973.
2013 marks the 40th Anniversary of this incredible production and I want to share some Frankie love here on Tumblr in a tribute to ‘the man who began it’ - Dammit. Well one of them. The one who stormed that stage forty years ago with such style and perfection that we’re sitting here forty years later, still talking about that tiny little production which by rights should have disappeared into the zeitgeist after the originally intended three week run.
So, Tumblr, can we get 4711 notes by 19th June?

The Gray Moon Sky and the Indistinguishable Leaf
I plucked the green leaves from their mother stem and threw them into the fire
I wanted to see how they would burn
A few got lost in the wood pile
Out of sight
Out of mind
Erased from memory
I saw one atop the coals, beneath a bridge of sticks, burning beneath the beams
I wasn’t sure it would burn,
it’s green still so bright, a mid summers day green.

The green alit, by the curling flames, dancing so joyously I thought they might miss it.
The edges singed, the green leaf wilted as its sides winced in embers
Slowly curling and crumbling to a gray death
beneath the gray moon sky.
All at once, the leaf ceased. And there lay another pile of coal, just as well.
Hamilton Pool
Just 23 miles west of Austin, Texas is a breathtaking natural oasis emerging out of the desert dust and scrub grass. More than a century ago, the natural dome that once concealed the entire grotto underground collapsed and created what is now called Hamilton Pool.
Hamilton Pool is a natural spring formed in the limestone bedrock and fed by an underground river, which also feeds the small tributaries and lush flora surrounding the pool. The abundant freshwater has allowed a diverse population of trees and vegetation to emerge surrounding the pool, forming what is now a protected nature preserve.
